MUSIC:
- Students are encouraged to listen to all different forms of music outside of school to widen their experiences and tastes (such as blues, jazz, rock, etc), or music from different cultures. Students can also extend their learning by working through the following list of music theory workbooks: Theory Fun Factory 1 & 2 by Katie Elliott;Boosey and Hawkes Or Music Theory in Practise by Peter Astin and Julian Webb; Grades 1 – 5 The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
- Students can also create a revision pack with the keywords and definitions. This can be regularly visited throughout their learning journey as and when the teacher suggests.
- Write the biography of a musician you admire – how did their career develop?
- Learn a new instrument and practise regularly.
- Attend composition club regularly and read the relevant books such as The Composer’s Handbook by Bruce Cole or Harmony, Melody and Composition by Paul Sturman
- Read The Oxford Companion to Music by Percy A Scholes; A Handbook of Musical Knowledge by James Murray Brown
